Welspent
Welspent comprises John Spencer and Geoff Welham and together they perform Irish, Scottish, English and Australian songs and tunes.
John and Geoff are members of the Big River Bush Band based in Grafton, northern NSW.
John plays Tenor Banjo, Mandolin, Mandola, whilst Geoff plays Harp, Guitar and Tin Whistle.
John was one of the founding members of “The Original Bushwackers and Bullockies Bush Band” in the early 70s, “Banshee” late 70s, “O’Neill’s Woolshed Band” early 80s “Big River Bush Band” late 80s onwards.
John has written three books – Concept of Music, Polkas and Others, Tunes o’ Mine.
John has run workshops at Bellingen, Newcastle, Sawtell, and Grafton folk festivals as well as a Master Class at the National folk festival and at Brisbane.
They often run Workshops on Tenor Banjo, Playing/Learning by Ear, Harp as backing for Songs and Tunes,
Geoff runs a harp circle in Grafton and also runs Harp making workshops in his studio on his property.
