The Slimy Brothers
The Slimy Brothers are Michael O’Halloran and Ross Roache. They started playing and singing together at Larnook (near Lismore) in Northern New South Wales 20 years ago. They sang and harmonised folk, rock and pop songs of the ‘60s, ‘70s and beyond at acoustic music venues around the district, including the Lismore folk festivals of the 1990s.
When Ross and family moved to Ipswich in 2000, the Slimy Brothers continued to perform, branching out into Brisbane folk and acoustic music venues. By this time they had a fair swag of their own songs under their belts—laconic stories in music and verse of the laid-back, humorous, sentimental and often blunt realities of life in Australia, past and present.
The Slimy Brothers have produced two CDs of original songs: The Slimy Brothers Live at the Byron Vista Social Club and Where the Mulga Meets the Scrub. A third offering will be available for the Gulgong Festival. They have a strong following in Brisbane and Northern New South Wales and most recently performed at the Folk Redlands Festival (June 6 2009) and the Nobby Music Festival (June 7 2009), where they were among the headline acts.
