Richard Lawson has been very busy over the last 3 years. From touring nationally and releasing a live album by the Lime Spiders on his own label, Figtree Words and Music, in 2007 to playing a slew of Festivals, radio programs and countless gigs with folk rockers Blue Valentine, who also released their acclaimed CD to recent releases by his electronic project FTR....he has covered all musical bases
His most recent release is the online issue of Figtree Renaissance II, his beautiful instrumental soundtrack work which has a following in Europe and is used in synchronisation for film and TV.

This is some of the praise that befell Figtree Renaissance and their debut release of 14 years ago. The CD received much critical acclaim and gained the “band” much soundtrack and synchronization work in Belgium, Sweden and Finland and even New Zealand
Figtree Renaissance is the brainchild of Richard Lawson…multi-instrumentalist/composer and one time drummer for the Lime Spiders, the legendary Australian Garage Punk band from the 80’s and 90’s. His amazing output has spawned two other musical endeavors; FTR an electronic rock project and Blue Valentine, a roots music collective playing all acoustic instruments. The new CD “Stone Fruit” is due for release late 2009 and again is an exciting and absorbing mix of instrumental, classical and ambient influences. It already has been in demand for performance by two regional chamber quartets and orchestras especially the pieces “Epitaph” and “After the fall”
Now having moved to the beautiful South Coast of NSW he is doing solo acoustic shows of all his material plus some of his favorite covers in an unplugged environment and continues to teach music and be active on the music festival scene and recently with the See Change Festival at Jervis Bay.
